Personal Projects

Here are some personal projects that I’ve worked on:

Abstract Light Project:

I started this project the last semester I was at Columbia College in Chicago.  I had a class that was called Advanced Color, and for our final project we had to pick a project for our final.  Every class I had been in, it was the same sort of pictures…’These are my friends’ or ‘these objects really interested me’.  I got tired of it and wanted to do something different.  As a joke one day trying to figure out what I wanted to do for my final, I decided to go take random pictures of nothing.  The only specifications of the final were that they were photographs and that they involved color and your basic good photography compositions.  After convincing my professor that this was worth my time she let me do it and what you see is what I shot for my final.  What started out as a joke became something that really interested me and in the end came out with some amazing shots.

The Night Hope Won:

I went out on election night (November 4, 2008) to the rally they were holding in Grant Park in Chicago when President Obama was offically elected as President of the USA. It was one of those spur of the moment decisions, where you realize this only happens once in your lifetime, why not take the opportunity to document it. In the end, 6 of these pictures were selected to be part of a traveling photography show called ‘The Night Hope Won’.  I was among several other photographers that were exhibited from their pictures of that night.
